Do you want to help your relatives with very simple estate planning needs? Learn the fundamentals of simple estate planning from two estate planning specialists who are good teachers, knowledgeable and clear. They will walk you through counseling with clients, common pitfalls, basic classification of probate and non-probate assets, and will provide you with a solid, basic will form.
This is not a seminar for specialists. It is the seminar for generalists that we have needed for a long time.
Speaker Bios:
Amanda Busby
Amanda M. Busby joined Bernstein, Stair & McAdams LLP in 2024 from a smaller firm she co-founded in 2009. Amanda graduated magna cum laude from Lambuth University in Jackson, Tennessee in 1993 with a BBA in Marketing. She received her law degree and MBA from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville in 1998. After graduating from UT, Amanda remained in Knoxville to build her legal career and raise her son, Joseph.
Amanda has served as President of the Knoxville Bar Association, President of the Hamilton Burnett American Inn of Court, Chair of the Tennessee Bar Association Health Law Executive Council, Chair of the City of Knoxville’s Civil Service Merit Board and is a current member of the Episcopal School of Knoxville Board of Trustees. She has also chaired several committees for her church, where she has been a member since 2002. In her free time, she enjoys volleyball, biking, pickleball, tennis, skiing, and traveling.
Amanda has more than 25 years of experience practicing law. Her primary areas of practice include Business and Corporate Law, Employment Law, Health Care Transactions and Compliance, Probate and Estate Administration, Real Estate Development & Finance, and Wills, Trusts, and Estate Planning.
Brooke Givens
Brooke Givens is a partner with the law firm of Kizer, Gammeltoft, & Brown, PC which is a boutique estate planning and probate firm. Brooke worked as an associate attorney for the Elder Law Practice of Monica Franklin for four years before joining Kizer, Gammeltoft & Brown, P.C. in 2015.
She has an undergraduate degree in psychology from Washington University in St. Louis and graduated cum laude from the University of Tennessee College of Law. Brooke is a member of Knoxville Estate Planning Counsel, Tennessee Bar Association, and Knoxville Bar Association. She volunteers as the chair of the board of Family Promise of Blount County and the board of trustees for Maryville First United Methodist Church.
